Enfield – Match Preview

Credit: Ross Hall

This Sunday the Tractor girls take on Enfield Town at Playford Road (2:30pm ko). The fixture that was initially due to be played at the usual Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe has been relocated due to the recent weather conditions and to ensure the fixture goes ahead. The game will be played on the Ipswich Town “cage” 4G pitch. Fans wishing to attend the game can do, gates open at 2:15pm.

Past meeting

The last time these teams met at Enfield’s QE Stadium, Town secured a close 2-1 win after coming from behind thanks to goals from Maddie Biggs and a Injury time winner from Natasha Thomas. This was one of the closest encounters the Tractor Girls have had this season in the National League South East Division One and will be on their guard to make sure they continue their good run of form.

The Opposition

Enfield will prove to be a tough test this Sunday when they look to stop towns good run in form. Enfield’s last loss was the return fixture against Ipswich, since then, they have only conceded 3 goals in 5 games and scored 16. They currently sit in 6th place in the league table with only 2 losses so far from their 11 played games.

One to watch

Town will need to keep an eye on Enfield’s Katherine Long (Striker) and Beth Lumsden (midfielder) who share 20 goals between them (10 each). The Blues currently hold the best defensive record in the league so both players will need to be at their best to cause towns back line a problem.

Team News and prediction

Town winger Anna Grey went off with an injury in their 10-0 win over Norwich recently and will be hoping to see her back in the squad. Town boss Joe Sheehan will have a selection headache with youngster Amy-Leigh Abrehart staking her claim for a first team pick after her hat-trick against Stevenage last Sunday. Joe chose to rest a number of first teamers last week and many will be expecting a recall for this Sundays game.

My prediction is a tough Enfield performance but Town will overcome it with a 3-1 win.
